Born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., I gradually worked my way east across the state -- Kansas City to Columbia to St. Louis. Along the way, I paid for rent and habits by working in television news and sports anchoring/reporting, freelance videography and photography, fiber-optic cable laying, coal shoveling, television production, marketing and a whole lot of writing. I currently provide reputation management counsel for an independent strategic communications firm in St. Louis (the simple version: I help companies work better by communicating better). For kicks, I work as a freelance writer on the side.
