Mahlatse Phatpro Flyshades Kekana was born on the 11th November 1989 in Limpopo. Moving to Alexandra Township in Johannesburg at an early age, this was where his musical tastes and interests were established.
Phatpro Flyshades entertainment career began in 2003 as a member of an unreleased hip hop group; The Basement. When The Basement split in late 2003, PhatPro pursued his production skills. With the aim and ambitions to produce for various artists, 2006 he began recording local upcoming musicians for free on his mediocre equipment as part of practice.
