I hold BA and BA Honours (English) degrees from the former Vista University; an MA (Linguistics) from the University of Johannesburg. I am a fulltime lecturer in the Department of English Studies at the University of South Africa (Unisa). I lecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the following: English literature (specialising in African literature); English language studies. My areas of interest are also in Sociolinguistics, particularly in urban youth languages. I am currently in the process of completing my PhD on urban youth language varieties at the University of Cape Town (UCT), under the supervision of Prof Rajend Mesthrie and Dr Ellen Hurst.
