She finished her PhD project at the VU University of Amsterdam. Her dissertation covers virtual support communities (see below). 

Currently she is an Assistant Professor at the department of Communication and Information Studies at the Radboud University Nijmegen (http://cls.ruhosting.nl/anika_batenburg/). Anika has an interest in how individuals use online networks (i.e., social media) to organize themselves and go beyond traditional structures.
