She later became a master dentist after graduating from the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dentistry. Prior to this, she earned a bachelors degree in microbiology at Portland State University, where she also studied speech and communication. During her time at the school she earned an academic scholarship and served as an assistant in the microbiology lab.
