Craft & The Fundamentals of Observation by Jonathan Yap Design is inclusive, yet the role of a designer is exclusive to people that understand and practice the craft. The process itself is something of a mystery to many. The consequences of not being exposed could lead to an environment that isnt invested in the practice. I soon realised I was not being smart, I was being pompous. No one had the faintest idea what I was talking about. And why should they? As a UX writer, I should have reminded myself that clarity trumps being 'smart'. And that's one of the things that makes UX writing different from the glamorous world of copywriting."]]>

Companies like Airbnb, Uber and Dropbox understand this, and have accelerated their growth with referrals. Yet, the potential of referrals is still largely untapped for a lot of businesses. Designing vehicles: an uncharted path beyond Architecture by Colin Choo After his six years of Architectural studies, Colin was expected to get a job with his Master of Architecture. He was expected to be drawing buildings. Except that Colin did the unexpected - he advanced right up to the final stage of Architecture before diverting from the expected path. He is now designing vehicles at HOPE Technik, where he penned the design of four versions of the Tumbler Element (also known as the Red Rhino fire truck in Singapore) and many others. Find out why he thinks that even though he had pulled the plug on Architecture, Architecture was in fact what led him to become a vehicle designer today.]]>
