Mobile web platform for disaster-response logistics and marketplace for post-disaster goods and services provision, made in New York during NextDayBetter Hackathon in aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), November 2013 Description In the event of a disaster, on-the-ground organizations have an intimate understanding about the needs of affected individuals and communities. Despite an amazing outpouring of support from around the world – gaps still exist with the needs of people on the ground and what they receive. For example, we learned through testimonials that an affected area may receive medicine, but didn’t have access to syringes. We’re creating this marketplace to bridge that gap. This platform provides a direct way for suppliers and companies to connect with on-the-ground organizations to fulfill their needs. It also provides an additional channel of communication between on-the-ground organizations to create efficient disaster responses. What one organization has in surplus at one location could then be properly allocated towards another organization in need of that particular supply elsewhere. A timeline showing when deliveries are arriving, an overview showing what previous deliveries have been made to each area and a way to prioritize needs across the different cities ensures that each area will have an equal chance of receiving the aid they so sorely need. We need to create a better system to communicate through. The foundations of an open and fast communications channel are available for us to bring together in a clear platform. The faster we can get B2B, Org2Org, exactly what they need, the better we can serve the people on the ground. Join Us. Help Us. Or even Fund Us. See what we are doing, and join us! http://bit.ly/ReliefInSight ]]>
