Presentation Abstract The Industrial Internet of Things has been hyped to take manufacturing into a new era; the German Industrie 4.0 initiative, NNMI in the US and 2025 goals in China are all aligned on the target of agile and smart manufacturing. Our current manufacturing systems have not changed much in the last 20 years and we are still using paper and pencil in many of our processes. There are many advanced technologies we can bring to bear today to help us along that path, but we still need to build the foundations to enable these advancements. Manufacturing requires special consideration for an IIOT system; an approach that does not take into consideration the context of the manufacturing process will not be able to transform the data from the equipment and sensors into actionable information. The solution is to build a standards based interoperable platform that allows services to fuse semantic data from multiple sources to provide the foundation for accelerated innovation in smart manufacturing. Will Sobel will discuss how this is a model for the new product and services to come and how this will enable outcome and intent based self-aware manufacturing systems. ]]>

Presentation Abstract Software has been the domain of information technology, but it is quickly becoming key to operations technology as well. Operating smart, networked machines from wind turbines to jet engines requires an intricate understanding of both the machines and the data and information that flows through them. The combination of these two disciplines is bringing new efficiencies and capabilities that do morefaster and cheaper. The key is leveraging connectivity, data, and mobility to optimize efficiency and deliver new services to customers. Join Hima Mukkamala of GE Digital to hear how software technology can help companies bridge the divide between IT and OT and how IT can help industrial companies build, deploy, and manage Industrial Internet applications that bring game-changing efficiencies to businesses.]]>

The intersection of IoT and Big Data is a fascinating area of innovation with tremendous scope for business impact. From industrial sensors to vehicles to health monitors, a huge variety of devices connects to the Internet and share information. At the same time, the cost to store data has dropped dramatically while capabilities for analysis have made huge leaps forward. How can analytics drive business benefits from IoT projects? What are the challenges in storing and analyzing huge amounts of real-world information? How can companies generate more value from their data? We will address these questions and also share our perspectives on innovative technologies enabling new IoT use cases.]]>

https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-IoTBruce-48x48.jpg?cb=1676320894 I began my career as a mathematician and then became a programmer and quickly found my way into business through marketing. I worked my way through product marketing and brand management to be VP of Marketing for a 300-person Microsoft subsiduary. Since then I have been CEO of companies in the visual computing, IT and Internet of Things industries.
