A slide presentation by Don Peck explaining how the dinosaurs died and the after effects of the collision of a very large asteroid with the earth 66 million years ago. On that fateful day, more than 76% of living things on Earth became extinct, including 100% of the dinosaurs. Earthquakes, tsunami's, forest fires, atmospheric clouds of sulfur dioxide, and the pelting of the earth's surface with hot volcanic-like materials led to a massive extinction event. It wasn't a good day for living things on the earth. This was the latest of four previous extinction events in earth history. ]]>

Inquiry: The Magnum Principian of Teaching /slideshow/slide-inquiry-pdf/27757887 slideinquirypdf-131030195336-phpapp01
Jack Hassard presents ideas about inquiry teaching and how it is, in his view, the "magnum principian" of teaching. The content is based on The Artistry of Teaching: Exploring the Cornerstone of Teaching on Amazon.com. The Artistry of Teaching is an eBook that challenges the assumptions of contemporary reformers by showing that schooling is much more than teaching to the test, and that student learning should be encourage in a humanistic and experiential environment. The eBook describes how teachers think about their profession, and how they are able to humanize the experiences for their students and their families, and their colleagues. It’s about how teachers mingle art and science, as well theory and practice. It is about the artistry of teaching.]]>
