Modern software containers provide a virtualization model that OpenStack, as originally conceived, was not designed for. We are now faced with trying to determine the appropriate path forward for managing disparate virtualization models in increasingly hybrid business settings. In this presentation, we look at the possibility of treating OpenStack as "just another containerized application" running with Kubernetes as the container operating environment. See the associated presentation here: https://kumul.us/will-it-blend-a-joint-openstack-and-kubernetes-environment/]]>

https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-JohnStarmer-48x48.jpg?cb=1551708509 After decades of working with government, academia, and NGOs on environmental issues, one might say that I've pivoted in my current position, building better communications models and education platforms for both teachers and learners of Cloud Computing (OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Container tech). I see this as less of a pivot than an opportunity apply my educational experience to understanding (and helping other understand) the infrastructure that lay under tools I was already using as a scientist (early IoT-like systems and data analytics tools). I am looking forward to seeing how Cloud, BigData and the IoT will evolve and how these tools might be brought back to accelerating environmental an... www.johnstarmer.com
