Stepfather was a Coca-Cola bottler,and I sort of grew up in the business. Sold out and went to college to become a botanist. Spent quite a few good years getting paid to pick flowers. Started writing almost as soon as I could read, sold a poem at age 8 ($5, which was a fortune back then), but being afflicted with a butterfly mind, I never stuck to it long enough to accomplish anything. Collected a shoebox full of rejections in my late teens/early twenties, when I thought I was destined to be a science fiction writer. Ha! I was really writing romance, and didn't know it.
