They were Immigrants from Turkey. Haham Chicorel studied with and from the noted Rabbi Al Gazi, and became the spiritual and organizational leader of a growing and diverse group of immigrant Jews to Metro Detroit. The organization, then known as the Sephardic Community of Greater Detroit, rented space at the established synagogues, and other locales to host High Holiday Services and Social Events. Through the generosity of a few members, Keter Torah was built in 2002 after 85 years of renting in the commun ketertorah.us
