iot-technology-marketing-smartgridiot-180706165939 Ever rolled out a product that no one bought? According to Forrester Research, 70% of roll-outs fail due to user adoption of new technologies like Internet of Things (IoT). In this presentation, Kelly Stark -- principal of Forward Vision Marketing and a marketing veteran in RFID and IoT technology -- will share her educational marketing approach and best practices in building marketing campaigns for smart products and services in wireless, RFID, IoT, IT, data centers and more. She will share a case study of how one company created hype and ensured a successful adoption.
Key Take-Aways:
Key barriers with marketing IoT technology
Psychology on how customers buy radical technology
Educational marketing approach to ensure successful adoption

sml-rfid-internet-of-things-retail-gs1connect-150628062212-lva1-app6892 While RFID鈥檚 benefits to inventory management are well known, it is easy to overlook the bigger role RFID will play as a lynchpin for the hyper-connected world of the Internet of Things and the data it generates. In 2014, estimates for connected devices ranged as high as 16 billion. But in the realm of passive RFID, the number of 鈥榙umb鈥 objects (i.e., those where it is unnecessary, uneconomical or impractical to have an active transmitter) is likely an order of magnitude (or two) higher, making the need for the proliferation of passive RFID standards glaringly apparent. A world where 99% of everything is invisible to the web by virtue of not having an active transmitter is as incomplete and disconnected as a pre-Columbus world map.
See SML Intelligent Inventory Solutions President Dean Frew's presentation at GS1 Connect 2015. This talk explores the possibilities of how this decades old RFID technology is now Retail鈥檚 new central nervous system, and answers such questions as:
What can the bleeding edge of RFID technology deliver to retailers today?
What RFID benefits are largely hypothetical, and which are real?
What can today鈥檚 retailer do to better anticipate the hyper-connected world RFID will help bring about?
What will the fully RFID-enabled world of the future look like to businesses, customers, and society at large?]]>

tego-oil-gas-brochure-v2-140820231021-phpapp01 Tego has recently attended the first annual RFID in Energy, Mining and Construction Conference organized by RFID Journal. Although Tego is a new player to this sector, our experience in aerospace is directly applicable to the needs of the energy, mining and construction industry. The rugged high-memory data capabilities of Tego鈥檚 RFID chips, tags and TegoView software enable storage of an asset鈥檚 complete lifecycle information, even in remote locations without Internet access.
We participated in the RFID Standardization Workshop in Perth, and will continue to be an active member in this group. For us, the workshop is reminiscent of the early days of the ATA Spec 2000, chapter 9-5 standardization groups, where Tego was and continues to be an active leader in developing standards for aerospace.
For those of you who attended our presentation about Tego, its solutions, and lessons learned from aerospace, I thank you for that opportunity. We received favorable reviews about our demonstration of TegoView software, its easy to use solutions for lifecycle maintenance, repair and overhaul activities on oil and gas assets. It was gratifying to see folks were as excited to see our high-memory RFID solution in action as we were to discuss the similarities between energy and aerospace Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) use cases.

I think it's a very interesting story and there are a lot of insights to be gained by looking back over the past ten years. There have been some key market drivers along the way such as AS5678 specification, and clear indications that the sector has embraced the value of high-memory RFID tagging. The programs have not just gone according to plan, they have been accelerated well beyond the original rollout plans.
