Only if we know exactly who a character is, what his antecendents are, his tastes, his speed of reaction, his vocabulary, his personal values, can we predict with any accuracy how he will act in the future. The desire for character verification is understandable but cannot always be satisfied. There are no hard distinctions between what is real and what is unreal, nor between what is true and what is false.
