This short presentation highlights my recent thoughts on how emerging technological trends and future predictions might change the grassroots sports landscape in the not too distant future. Biometric smart wear continues to advance whilst mind-controlled systems that deliver frictionless interactions via ‘natural user interfaces’ begin to get traction. The widespread adoption of cognitive systems that learn, reason and engage with us in more natural ways will help us to make smarter decisions. And augmented reality applications such as the Recon Jet heads-up display product will deliver performance and environmental metrics aimed at improving the overall sporting experience for cyclists and alpine sports enthusiasts. Everyday sporting activities of the future will be enhanced by technological advances that give us greater control and optimise our experience helping us to learn and progress faster, improve our fitness, have a more enjoyable time and avoid injury. www.russelldouglas.com]]>

RD Book 2010 /slideshow/rd-book-2010/39625945 rdbook2010lowres-140928160811-phpapp01
I produced this book in 2010 to give an overview of my work and achievements over the 17 years to 2010; from Technical Illustrator & 3D specialist, Designer, Creative Director, and Marketing Consultant to Managing Director. The book explores the key areas of my skill base; strategy, management, new business development, client services, creative direction and digital marketing, through a series of in-depth case studies. From Nov 2010 until the end of July 2014 I was responsible for leading the interactive offering and team for Designworks across Asia and Pacific region. Designworks is one of Australasia's leading strategic design practices with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne and Christchurch and over 120 employees.

I formalised the Interactive offering taking it from a team of 2 to a successful and thriving 20 strong group of highly motivated digital specialists across Auckland and Wellington. I delivered exceptional results reporting significant revenue growth in the 3.5 years I was with Designworks and in 2013 grew fee revenue by over 70% year-on-year with very strong underlying margin.]]>

https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-RussellDouglas-48x48.jpg?cb=1523008991 In November 2014 I founded D&Co, an experience design consultancy that help our clients create refreshing solutions using the powerful combination of innovation, brand, human-centred design and technology to deliver an enduring business advantage. We are a community of strategists, researchers, innovation specialists, designers, technologists, social media experts and marketers. I believe a focus on designing experiences for real people using human-centred design methods is critical to delivering business growth as we enter an era where experience innovation will drive successful business transformation. www.russelldouglas.com https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/future-140928161544-phpapp01-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/the-future-of-sport/39626092 The 'Future of Sport' ... https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/rdbook2010lowres-140928160811-phpapp01-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/rd-book-2010/39625945 RD Book 2010
