So software development has been broken for a long time due to the need to create a formal approach, however the approach that has generally been adopted didn't work and has never worked, but at least the people at the top had a modicum of control which created the illusion that everything was working fine. So in conclusion, software development has been around for a relatively long time and due to that there are a hundred and one ways of doing apparently the same thing, creating software. However compared to the sciences, software development isn't yet out of its teens and as such there really isn't an empirical evidenced based approach to software testing. So we just have to fumble along with the knowledge that we currently have and continue to improve.]]>

Introduction slides for the first ever Sheffield Test gathering: This session is a general 'find out who's out there'. We'll test the idea of a testing club, talk about what we may want to cover in future sessions, and work out what happens next. https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-bAdbUd65-48x48.jpg?cb=1523942776 With more than nineteen years of testing experience within a multitude of testing fields from gaming, internet service provisioning, gambling, financial services and version control organisations, Stephen Blower has seen the testing industry evolve from strict dogmatic practices to more flexible context driven ways of working towards delivering quality. Stephen is a strong advocate for tester recognition and he does not accept testing being left to the end. He often provokes debate on what is often seen by non-testers and testers alike as an industry stuck in the middle ages, inflexible and stagnant. To promote this he organises a regular peer group for those involved within development. www.stephenblower.co.uk https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/qaisbroken1-4-130525052207-phpapp02-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/qa-is-broken-fix-it/21888366 QA is Broken, Fix it! https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/sheffieldtestgatheringevent1-130402062719-phpapp02-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/sheffield-test-gathering-event-1/18049062 Sheffield Test Gathering
