Authors: Bouke Huurnink and Lotte Belice Baltussen. In this talk we discuss some of the R&D work being done at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. We endeavour to answer the following questions: What does Sound and Vision do and what kind of collections do they safeguard? What kind of work is being done by their R&D department? What is the current status of multimedia annotation and multimedia retrieval in the archive? In addition we zoom in on the newly arising problem of contextualisation in the archive. How can we make the most of the relations between multiple collections that contain information about the same program, person, or topic? We conclude with a discussion of potential collaboration, and some questions that we would like to answer in future work.]]>
