Presentation within the 13th Workshop on Information Logistics and Digital Transformation (ILOG 2022) at 21st International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research, Rostock, Germany The companys knowledge assets and ability to coordinate them become increasingly critical. Knowledge maps can scaffold knowledge search and decision-making by creating visible links between knowledge, its application, source, and owner. The term Knowledge map was used with various meanings in several scientific communities: knowledge management, education studies, organization studies, decision analysis, artificial intelligence, etc. The term itself is still rather vague. To generalize the variety of the definitions, one can use the term knowledge map as a description of the sources, 鍖ows, owners, and application areas of knowledge within the organization. The current study considers knowledge maps from a knowledge management perspective and is devoted to generalizing the numerous scattered knowledge mapping research and practices. It aims to identify and consolidate knowledge maps interpretations by analyzing their contents. The discussed research results in developing the ontology of knowledge maps. Existing types of knowledge maps are associated with fragments of this ontology. Such ontology may help select the necessary building blocks (templates and elements) for knowledge mapping in specific companies and situations. The research methodology is based on literature review, semantic analysis, and ontological engineering. The paper also provides the knowledge mapping ontology application guidelines and demonstrates them via a case study. ]]>

Today, in the era of digital economy and the need for constant digital business transformation, the relevance of Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools and methods to strategic management tasks increases. According to the latest research, strategic decisionmakers face a significant number of problems, which potentially can be successfully resolved with the help of EA. This paper is a review of potential application of EA methods and technologies to support strategic management process. The main research method for this paper is an exploratory literature review focused on the evolution, classification and functionality of EA methods with subsequent analysis of relevant problems from the field of strategic management. This result is an intermediate point for the further research which may add considerable value to both researchers and practitioners. For citation: Kudryavtsev D., Kubelskiy M. Representing strategic organizational knowledge via diagrams, matrices and ontologies /slideshow/representing-strategic-organizational-knowledge-via-diagrams-matrices-and-ontologies/112694547 2016kdsrepresentingstrategicorganizationalknowledgegavrilovakudryavtsevmenshikova-180902194402
The paper describes methods and tools for organizational knowledge representation in the field of strategic management. Visual and matrix/table-based methods are actively used for knowledge representation in this domain. Diagrams solve problems associated with the managerial thinking (cognitive challenges), managerial communications and coordination (social problems), and the ability of managers to motivate and involve their employees (emotional problems). On the other hand, there are types of information and tasks that are better supported by matrices. In order to effectively combine diagrams with matrices the paper suggests multi-representation of organizational knowledge using ontologies. Such multi-representation capabilities for organizational knowledge are already supported by some enterprise architecture management software tools. Two of these tools are described in the paper. Kudryavtsev D., Grigoriev L., Koryshev I. Applying Quality Function Deployment method for business architecture alignment. Proceedings of the 8th European Conference on IS Management and Evaluation (ECIME 2014), Ghent, Belgium, 11-12 September 2014, 118-127. Strategic alignment is an important issue for business architecture. The alignment concept may have many facets, but this paper mainly focuses on such aspects of an enterprise as behaviour and resources. Stakeholder concerns and customer values must define the right priorities and goals for the elements of value configuration, capabilities and resources. The right projects must be launched to develop and improve key business architecture elements. This paper suggests the model-oriented method for business architecture alignment, which uses proven matrix-based Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methodology for analysis, decision making and communication. This method can complement standard diagramming enterprise architecture methods. Although QFD was initially created for product design, it has many applications in strategy deployment. But in spite of a longstanding history, elements chosen for strategic QFD vary and are poorly aligned with existing business architecture concepts. In order to clarify the link between the suggested QFD method and business architecture elements, a meta-model is suggested, which specifies the contents of the matrices. The suggested meta-model is based on the existing reference ontologies and meta-models for strategic management. This ontological foundation supports knowledge sharing and applicability of the business architecture alignment method. Tool support (EAM-tool plugin) and method applications are also covered in this paper.]]>

Diagrams are an effective and popular tool for visual knowledge structuring. Managers also often use them to acquire and transfer business knowledge. There are many currently available diagrams or visual modeling languages for managerial needs, unfortunately the choice between them is frequently error-prone and inconsistent. This situation raises the next questions. What diagrams/ visual modeling languages are the most suitable for the specific type of business content? What domain-specific diagrams are the most suitable for the visualization of the particular elements of organizational ontology? In order to provide the answers, the paper suggests light-weight specification of diagrams and knowledge content types, which is based on the competency questions and ontology design patterns. The proposed approach provides the classification of qualitative business diagrams. Kudryavtsev, D. V., Gavrilova, T. A. (2011). Diagrammatic knowledge modeling for managers ontology-based approach. Accepted poster. International Conference on Knowledge engineering and Ontology Development, 26-29 October, 2011, Paris, France. P. 386-389.

Business architecture became a well-known tool for business transformations. According to a recent study by Forrester, 50 percent of the companies polled claimed to have an active business architecture initiative, whereas 20 percent were planning to engage in business architecture work in the near future. However, despite the high interest in BA, there is not yet a common understanding of the main concepts. There is a lack for the business architecture framework which provides a complete metamodel, suggests methodology for business architecture development and enables tool support for it. The ORGMaster framework is designed to solve this problem using the ontology as a core of the metamodel. This paper describes the ORG-Master framework, its implementation and dissemination. the presentation was given within the SOMET 2011 conference: http://www.somet.soft.iwate-pu.ac.jp/somet_11/ see the text in proceedings here: http://www.booksonline.iospress.nl/Content/View.aspx?piid=21454 Kudryavtsev, D., & Grigoriev, L.
