How to stop freelance from killing you /dmje/stop-freelance-from-killing-you stopfreelancefromkillingyou-180313084024
The "free" in freelance is what we all love about it, but it's also the creator of the biggest challenge: the equation that governs our self-employed lives is most often "do more work, get more money". The discipline required to work is eclipsed by the discipline required to not work. This talk looks at self-working from a holistic perspective: Mike will look at some of the tools and techniques that are useful in helping freelancers balance their working lives, get on top of scheduling, build the confidence to say no - and ultimately find time to do things other than work.]]>

Before you start commenting like a crazy-assed loon, please remember the title is entirely designed to provoke. Like anything else in this entire universe, I'm long enough in the tooth to know this: "IT DEPENDS". The Benefits Of Doing Things Differently /slideshow/the-benefits-of-doing-things-differently/2690516 dishpresentationfinal-091210092143-phpapp02
During October and November 2009, Mike Ellis (Eduserv) and Dan Zambonini (Box UK) built a museum website in 12 hours from beginning to end, under the title "Museum In A Day". These slides accompany a workshop we delivered at DISH 2009 with the same title (see http://www.dish2009.nl/node/89) The workshop uses the Museum In A Day project as a means to frame the wider conversation, and looks at where online museums are in terms of audience, traffic and reach, asking: - How can we do things differently? - How can we do more with less? - How can we be where our audiences are? For an overview of the Museum In A Day project, see http://museuminaday.com/]]>

- How can we be where our audiences are? https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-dmje-48x48.jpg?cb=1715873232 Im Mike Ellis, co-director of digital consultancy Thirty8 Digital. We provide web consultancy, web sites, ideas and training. We understand content, we understand people and well help you make your web presence shine :-) My interests are in mobile technologies, social media, ubiquitous computing and innovation. Im particularly interested in how organisations (particularly those which are traditionally quite slow at embracing new approaches to technology) can be empowered to do so. I regularly speak and give workshops about social media, mobile technologies and new business models, and have just written a book on how to manage and grow a cultural heritage web presence thirty8.co.uk https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/digitalmarketing-maeventjan2019v2-190206145451-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/5-digital-habits-of-highly-effective-museums/130748313 5 digital habits of hi... https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/stopfreelancefromkillingyou-180313084024-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds dmje/stop-freelance-from-killing-you How to stop freelance ... https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/aowjy0ucs6ckl8nhiwof-signature-3d07b21f4cb129db174896b94183a088fb6925c3f113117705e72acb69a952cd-poli-150330153015-conversion-gate01-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/getting-collections-online/46465417 Getting collections on...
