The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was one of the major disruptive events that challenged human existence. It broke the supply chain system and weakened the global economy. It tremendously cut the global health system and killed millions of people worldwide. However, the overall health consequences of COVID-19 were not the same in all the affected megacities worldwide; depending on their knowledge and attitude and their practices on preventive measures, the people of different megacities suffered from COVID-19 at various levels. This scenario has created the ground for this study to check peoples knowledge, attitude, and practices on hygiene practices in Dhaka City during this pandemic. It accommodated the responses of 250 respondents and followed quantitative analysis that approached descriptive analysis, mean score, and correlation of variables with the application of SPSS to generate the expected outcome of the study. Results of the study found that retailers of Dhaka city scored 0.656 (range: -1 to 1); 3.639 (range: 1 to 5) and 1.944 (range: 1 to 3) on knowledge, attitude and practice toward COVID -19 respectively. It also revealed a positive correlation between the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of the people of Dhaka City on health hygiene during this invasion. A significant positive correlation was observed between knowledge with attitudes (rs= 0.499, p < 0.05), knowledge with practice (rs= 0.419, p < 0.05), and attitudes with practice (rs= 0.474, p < 0.05). 25% of the time the knowledge of the shop retailers influences their attitude and practices by 18% of the time, and their attitude influences practices by 22%. This means a higher knowledge level about COVID-19 has a significant association with a positive attitude and good practices of health hygiene maintenance during the COVID-19 pandemic. This significance implies an urgency for effective health education efforts to raise awareness against any pandemic like COVID-19. Thus, the findings will encourage and inform decision-makers and program implementers to promote their preventive measures against any pandemic like COVID-19 in the future.

Local and Western Medicines and Treatment Methods for Cholera in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) During the British Empire /slideshow/local-and-western-medicines-and-treatment-methods-for-cholera-in-ceylon-sri-lanka-during-the-british-empire/274266906 2ijmpd-dec20241-local-241221044016-a8d679a4
The introduction of cholera to Ceylon in the 19th century posed a substantial public health crisis, especially as the island served as a strategic colonial outpost. The spread of cholera across Asia, often intensified by trade and travel routes, made Ceylon highly susceptible. Colonial authorities in Ceylon responded to cholera with various medical interventions, often blending European medical methods with limited engagement with indigenous practices. This study explores the historical medical practices, quarantine measures, and public health policies implemented to contain cholera in Ceylon, providing insight into the broader context of colonial medicine and the development of epidemic control methods. While studies have examined choleras spread in Europe and parts of Asia, there is a lack of detailed analysis of Ceylon's specific medical responses, the role of colonial authority in shaping these responses, and the effectiveness of these approaches. Most existing literature centers on cholera outbreaks in Europe or British India, with limited attention to the localized responses in Ceylon. This study fills this gap by focusing on Ceylon's unique historical and colonial context. The study argues that colonial administration in Ceylon primarily prioritized European medical practices over indigenous knowledge systems, affecting the effectiveness of cholera control. This preference often overlooked the potential benefits of a more integrative approach to medical intervention, which could have improved disease management. This study employs historical research methodology, analyzing primary sources such as colonial government records, medical reports, and historical journals from the 19th century. Secondary sources supplement this research, including scholarly analyses of colonial medicine and public health policies. A comparative analysis of European and indigenous medical methods offers insight into their respective roles and effectiveness. The findings indicate that colonial authorities implemented various quarantine measures, sanitation improvements, and medical treatments, largely guided by European medical knowledge. Indigenous practices were rarely integrated despite some evidence of their effectiveness. The colonial government's preference for European methods and limited infrastructure hindered a potentially more effective response. This study concludes that the colonial medical responses to cholera in Ceylon were shaped by a Eurocentric approach that underutilized local medical knowledge.

This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the novel wireless mouse page-turning laser pointer through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method and provide valuable reference information for designers. Firstly, the characteristics and functions of the novel wireless mouse page-turning laser pointer are introduced, and the basic principle and calculation steps of AHP are expounded. Secondly, through the construction of the AHP analysis model, determine the evaluation index system and hierarchical structure model, collect data through questionnaires and expert interviews, establish the judgment matrix and assign values, and then analyze the calculation results, including the ranking weights of the elements of the middle layer and the elements of the scheme layer on the decision target, as well as the consistency ratio and the maximum characteristic value of each index. Through sensitivity analysis, the objects faced by plans A, B, and C are determined. Finally, the research results are discussed, and suggestions for improvement and future research direction are put forward. This study provides an effective method for the evaluation of the novel wireless mouse page-turning laser pointer, which is helpful for designers to develop suitable products.

The Mediating Role of Trust in Understanding Factors Influencing Chinese Consumers' Continuous Intention to Use Social Commerce /slideshow/the-mediating-role-of-trust-in-understanding-factors-influencing-chinese-consumers-continuous-intention-to-use-social-commerce/273295107 2ijebm-nov20241-themediating-241114050826-4082129b
Social commerce, which integrates social media with online marketplaces, is highlighted as a rising trend in the study. Customers can now shop online while interacting with one another via social media and user-generated content. By investigating what keeps Chinese customers interested in social commerce, this study hopes to close a knowledge gap. Among the relevant theories examined in the literature study are TAM and TPB. In order to get a comprehensive understanding of the determinants that influence users' continuous intention to use social commerce platforms, this study intends to generate prior research on social commerce, technology adoption, and trust. This research shows how important it is to learn more about how Chinese consumers' unique cultural, social, and economic backgrounds impact their social commerce attitudes and behaviors. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment are the three determinants this research finds to have the most impact on Chinese consumers' long-term intentions to use social commerce. Furthermore, the research seeks to investigate the mediating effect of trust in these relationships. The study technique utilizes a quantitative approach by using questionnaires to obtain data from a sample of Chinese customers who actively participate in social commerce. The research expects to discover favorable relationships between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and the continuous intention to use social commerce. Additionally, the findings of this research will provide valuable insights for both academic understanding and practical applications for firms seeking to improve user engagement and loyalty in the Chinese social commerce sector.

Social commerce, which integrates social media with online marketplaces, is highlighted as a rising trend in the study. Post-harvest losses in mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata blanco.) in the Gulmi District of Nepal /slideshow/post-harvest-losses-in-mandarin-orange-citrus-reticulata-blanco-in-the-gulmi-district-of-nepal/273259593 1ijhaf-oct20242-post-harvest-241113042833-f81affee
A study was carried out in Gulmi District, Nepal, focused on the status of post-harvest technology and mandarin post-harvest losses. A random sampling technique was used to select the household and an interview with a semi-structured questionnaire was carried out. Collected data were analyzed by using descriptive through SPSS and Ms. Excel and results were obtained. Through the collection and analysis of data from a sample of 100 respond-ents, this study delved into various aspects of Mandarins post-harvest status, including socio-demographic char-acteristics, post-harvest operation, and challenges faced by farmers. The findings revealed critical insights into the demographics of the surveyed farmers, their practices related to post-harvest management of Mandarin, and the issues they encounter. The study uncovered that while many farmers exhibit a lower understanding of post-harvesting technology including the use of chemicals, processing facilities, the effect of proper harvesting tech-nique, and other post-harvest handling practices on the shelf life of fruits, there is still room for improvement, particularly in post-harvest handling techniques and access to markets. Aggregate mean post-harvest losses were found to be 8.12% at the harvesting stage, followed by 4.05% at the grading stage, 3.07% at the sorting stage, and 1.65% during storage. The end use of market-rejected poor-grade fruits was also studied. The research also high-lighted the significance of farmer groups and the potential for training programs to enhance post-harvest knowledge and skills. Furthermore, the study identified critical needs among farmers, emphasizing the importance of access to essential resources, training, credit related to post-harvest management, marketing assistance, and improved infrastructure to improve Mandarin post-harvest handling in the region. These findings can inform tar-geted interventions and policies aimed at enhancing Mandarin farming practices, post-harvest handling practic-es, and improving farmers' livelihoods in the Gulmi district.

This study investigates the medicolegal aspects of burn-related deaths through autopsy cases across various age groups and burn types, including flame, electric, chemical, and scald burns, analyzed from July 2022 to December 2023. Out of 46 cases, males (78%) were notably more affected than females (22%), with the 0-10 age group having the highest incidence, especially in urban areas. Flame burns were the leading cause (52%), followed by electric burns (35%), with shock as the primary cause of death, particularly within the first two days. Accidental burns accounted for the majority of cases (80%), though suicidal and homicidal burns were also observed. The findings reflect regional differences in burn patterns and highlight critical risk factors, underscoring the importance of targeted safety protocols and preventive measures. Comparisons with prior studies reveal similar trends in burn severity and cause but suggest regional variations influenced by socio-cultural and occupational factors.

Adaptation of Napier grass varieties in the highlands of East Gojjam /slideshow/adaptation-of-napier-grass-varieties-in-the-highlands-of-east-gojjam/272801214 1ijfaf-sep20245-adaptation-241028060745-73d345e9
The experiment was conducted in the East Gojjam Zone of the Amhara Regional State to evaluate the varieties of released Napier grass in the study area. The four varieties of Napier grass considered for this research experiment were Maralfalafa, ILRI- 16743, ILRI-14984 and Zehone-03 (Acc. 16819). The varieties were planted in 4 m x 3 m plots using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications at the beginning of the main rainy season. Root splits at the Debremarkos onstation and Debere Eliyas sites were planted in four rows per plot. The analysis was conducted using R software. Least significance difference (LSD) at the 5% significance level was used for the comparison of means. The combined plant height, number of tillers per plant, total fresh biomass yield per hectare (t/ha), and total dry matter yield (t/ha) did not significantly differ between the varieties. The leaf-to-stem ratios of the Napier grass varieties were significantly different. In the present study, ILRI-14984 was found to be leafier than the other tested varieties. The combined analysis of the second- and third-year data revealed significant differences in plant height, number of tillers and leaf-to-stem ratio among the tested years. The greatest plant height (152.42 cm) at harvest was found in the second year after establishment, which was 2022, whereas the number of tillers per plant was greater in the 2023 harvest season. The testing location did not affect plant height, total fresh biomass yield per hectare, or total dry matter yield per hectare. The number of tillers per plant and the leaf-to-stem ratio significantly differed among the tested locations. A greater number of tillers per plant was recorded at the Debre Eliyas testing site. Voice assistants like Alexa and Siri have become increasingly advanced due to improvements in AI and language processing models like GPT and Gemini. However, these systems often perform poorly with less commonly spoken languages, such as many Indian languages, creating a significant accessibility gap. This paper addresses the problem of multilingualism in voice assistants, with a focus on languages like Hindi, Punjabi, and Bengali. We examine the evolution of voice assistants and highlight the major technical challenges they face, including speech recognition, language processing, and response generation in low-resource languages. To overcome these barriers, we propose a novel framework that combines different AI models to enhance multilingual support. Our approach offers a potential solution to make voice assistants more inclusive and accessible for speakers of underrepresented languages. By broadening language support, this research has the potential to extend the benefits of AI to a much wider audience.

By broadening language support, this research has the potential to extend the benefits of AI to a much wider audience.

A descriptive observational study was carried out, In which data on the most frequent pathologies were collected in the complementary health services of the municipality of Tec叩mac State of Mexico for the period of February-June 2023, in order to have knowledge of the epidemiological statistics treated, with auriculotherapy , chiropractic and pedometry services. Diseases, regardless of the time in which we live, are present and the ways of diagnosing them are different in each time and space in which it is human beings turn to live they are looking for different alternatives for their treatment, according to a health survey carried out in the United States of America in 2007, About 65% have used complementary medicine treatments, while in Africa 80% of the population resorts to solve heir health problems with traditional medicine. ( Berenzon , 2006). In Latin America there are data hat in Chile, Colombia, Bolivia and Cuba and Latin American countries more than 50% of the population continued to take care of heir health through Through patterns of their tradicional medicine.Within complementary medicine is auriculotherapy, chiropractic and podometry, auriculotherapy is a treatment in the auricle of the ear where seeds, pellets, studs, needles or only stimulation are applied. Chiropractic is a spinal adjustment that seeks to keep the nervous system in balance while podometry is responsible for measuring the pressures exerted by the sole of the foot, thus identifying possible conditions of both the foot and the spine. (Sosa M. 2015). Therefore, this study focused on knowing the most frequent pathologies that the community of Tec叩mac attends for primary care in complementary medicine services such as auriculotherapy, chiropractic and pedometry .

Green field constitute an intrinsic environmental resource which mankind depend on for their socio-economic, cultural and environmental values. Despite their importance, urban green spaces have been depleting as the years go by in Bamenda due to anthropogenic factors. Currently, there exist the lack of evidence needed to fully understand the motives of community attachment to the valorisation of green field potentials in Bamenda. This paper seeks to bring into lamplight the motives of community attachments to the valorization of green field potentials in the urban and peri-urban areas of Bamenda. Through a survey by help of 394 copies of questionnaire, interviews, focus group discussions and field observations, the results showed that socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors do influence population attachments to the valorisation of green field potentials in Bamenda. These green field potentials span through patches of natural expanses, sacred forest, shrines, cemeteries, city gardens, roadside, street line and residential and institutional outdoor green field potentials. The study recommended that the government should promote bottom-up conservation strategies through active involvement of the local population during decision and policy formulation and implementation for holistic conservation of green field potentials.

Molecules are chemical structures composed of atoms, and in order to improve the understanding of the classical organic chemistry concepts it is necessary to have accessible mathematical models that contain all the important structural elements of a molecule. An interesting tool for organic chemistry is represented by the prediction of the number of -bonds, -bonds, single, double and triple bonds for organic compounds based on their molecular formulas in order to solve different kinds of problems regarding the representation of molecules. In this manuscript we try to present a simple method comprised of multiple empirical equations for two important classes of organic molecules that can have a significant impact on their rapid calculation of chemical bonds. Therefore, our new mathematical model that will be presented enable an easy calculation of the number of -bonds, -bonds, single, double and triple bonds for graphical representations of the molecular structures that corresponds to open chain alcohols and cycloamines using their molecular formulas.

Low yield and increased use of chemical fertilizers are major problems for chilli growers in Chitwan, Nepal. An experiment to determine the effect of pinching on the vegetative and reproductive attributes of Chilli was conducted in the farmer's field to study its effect on height, branching system, and yield attributes of the plant. Seven treatments in total that were pinching at 15th, 30th, 45th, 15th & 30th,15th & 45th, 30th & 45th DAT and control with three replications were laid out in randomized complete block design in an area of 5.4 m2. A significant reduction in height by 32.70% was observed in the double-pinched plot than in the un-pinched plot. Similarly, an increase in the number of primary, secondary, and tertiary flowering branches was recorded in pinched plants as compared to controlled conditions. Pinching after the 15th & 45th DAT recorded a greater number of days to 1st flowering and 50% flowering while double pinching takes a maximum of days to flower followed by single pinching. Notably, double pinching at 15th & 30th DAT resulted in a substantial increase in the number of fruits per plant by 77.56%, average fruit weight by 27.57%, fruit length by 18.04%, and overall fruit yield by 118.65% compared to the control. While single pinching at the 15th, 30th, and 45th DAT yielded comparable results, the control treatment displayed inferior outcomes. These findings underscore the efficacy of pinching at 15th & 30th DAT as a beneficial approach to enhance the growth and yield traits of Chilli plants in Chitwan, Nepal.

Legal Considerations in the Development and Commercialization of Corporate Intellectual Property /slideshow/legal-considerations-in-the-development-and-commercialization-of-corporate-intellectual-property/271426680 1ijreh-aug20241-legal-240830060101-bd7e1f6f
With the exploitation of the internet and societal innovations and legislative shifts, it is repeatedly being raised as to whether and to what degree businesses and individuals can protect their intellectual property and in economic terms the worth of doing so. To date, how to capture value from IP and what can be considered an effective IP strategy are subjects for which there is no definitive answer as the solution is very much industry and firm-specific. Therefore, the primary goal of this paper is to provide a strategic perspective on intellectual property exploitation and management in a manner that is relevant to the business objectives of today's corporations. In doing this, this paper will argue that the effective management of IP is a complex process requiring a synthesis of insight from several disciplines ranging from strategy to finance and law. The argument underlying this is that in the same way that today's corporation has changed the way to strategy and management of other business assets, there too is a need to change how IP is both managed and exploited. This theme is prevalent throughout the following analysis, however, these two opening sections aim to provide a comprehensive framework that links and articulates the various aspects of corporate IP. This framework will be of most use to managers and decision-makers with responsibility for IP who are seeking to maximize the value of their property to use it as leverage to gain sustainable competitive advantage. A second audience for this paper is the academically minded. A sign of changes to come is that IP is now a topic of academic research in various fields that encompass PhD and other advanced studies. In addressing the wide disciplinary audience, the following analysis draws evidence from a mix of academic and business sources.

Salinity is a major challenge in crop cultivation, but tolerant genotypes can adapt physiologically to cope with stress. A pot culture experiment conducted during the period of July 2021 to June 2022 at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, evaluated the impact of salt stress on eight chili genotypes at three salinity levels (T1=3 dS/m, T2=6 dS/m, T3=9 dS/m NaCl) compared to a control (T0=0 dS/m NaCl). Varieties and stress interaction were estimated based on agromorphogenic and physiological traits. Increasing salinity levels significantly reduced plant growth traits like height, number of branches, days to first flowering, and leaf area, as well as fruit traits such as length, girth, weight, and number per plant. Among the genotypes, G4 was highly tolerant to salinity, while G5 and G6 are recommended for mild to moderately saline prone areas.
