Jonathan Cahn and the mystery of the Shemitah! The Shemitah was given to Israel as one of the laws before they entered into Israel. It was to be kept once they entered the land. 1.) The Torah says, the land has to rest a Sabbath year. 2.) This means that people can not plant, prune, plow, harvest, or engage in any type of work on the land. 3.) It goes on to say that the seventh-year produce is ownerless and free. 4.) And all outstanding debt between the followers of Torah is cancelled. It is a mystery as to why the land needs to rest the seventh year. I have heard it said more then once that it was so the people of the land could spend a year pursuing spirituality. Although I have also heard it said that it was meant to make the land more fertile and stronger by letting it sit for a year. I am also of the understanding that there is research to back up the fact that soil quality increases after the land as set for a year. But the Torah doesn't just say, Let the land rest. Shemitah not only provides physical benefits but also enables humanity to develop spiritually. But this command was given to the children before entering the promise land. The Shemitah was only to be observed in Israel? But there is a legal and moral code that has been given to all man kind by YHVH (God) the creator of the universe! That is why Cain was punished for killing his brother Abel before the laws was given to Moses. (Genesis 4:8-10) The generation of the flood was destroyed by YHVH (God) before the laws were given to Moses. Genesis 6:13 The Pharaoh and his household was punished for going near Sarah when Abraham entered their land. Genesis 12:17Sodom was destroyed for injustice and sexual immorality in Genesis 19. Egypt was punished with ten plagues and it's army drowned in the sea of weeds in Exodus chapter 7-12. Why did YHVH punish these people? The answer has to be that they violated YHVH's moral law. YHVH does not punish man unless they have been taught the rules and warned of the consequences. Just like in Genesis 2:16 when YHVH warned Adam not to eat of the fruit of the tree of good and evil. You can not say these people were punished for violating the ten commandments because all these people were punished before the ten commandments were written. God's moral law pre-dated written scripture. There was an oral Torah that pre-dated the written Torah. This is evident from Genesis 7:2 when Noah knew the difference between the clean and unclean animals. Genesis 7:22YHVH praised Abraham because he commanded his children and his household after him that they keep the laws of YHVH doing charity and justice. Genesis 18:19This moral code is the Torah. The moral code is the interface of the Torah. There are seven categories of the moral law. Idolatry Blasphemy Murder Theft Illicit Sex Limb of the Living And courts of Justice We are]]>
