This project focuses on design of an electronic control system for taxis. It has two basic elements i.e. electronic circuit system installed on each taxi (vehicle side unit) and a central station system (unit) with software to control the whole system. Vehicle Side This unit consists of all the hardware components. Arduino is the central operating scheme of the whole system. It is this system that processes the data received from the GPS module that gives the exact location of the vehicle per coordinates (longitude & latitude) of the exact position as per the satellites reference. GSM module is used for sending and receiving SMS to the station side unit. We also used RTC for turning ON and OFF the system at specific time by sending specific commands & it’s also used to extract the exact time of violation for the dispatch SMSs to be sent when violation occurs. Last but not least we used SD Card for data storage & LCD is used as a human interface to the system. It is through this unit that the tracking process is accomplished. Station Side This unit is responsible for controlling and integrating the violation messages obtained from different vehicles. Its WPF app developed using C#, SQL SERVER is used as RDMS. With key features like Path Assignment, New Vehicle Registration, Reading violation information from SD card, reading violation report from database, notify operators when SMS is received, parse received information and store it to the database, auto reply when violation is received, printing & exporting data (reports) & Settings for configuring the software. The communication between the two units is solely based on the GSM service provided by the GSM phone integrated with the software and the GSM module on the independent system.]]>
