The new Directive EURATOM BSS: current situation of the implementation and ERA's activities /slideshow/the-new-directive-euratom-bss-current-situation-of-the-implementation-and-eras-activities/83039512 20171104iweanrjlgv-171130083854
The Council of the European Union issued the new Directive EURATOM Basic Safety Standards (BSS) in January 2014. This document aims to offer a better protection for people at workplaces and at dwellings. The document introduces radon gas for the first time into the radiological protection system and establishes a reference level of 300 Bq m-3. In addition to this, the occupational exposure arrangements at workplaces has 6 mSv y-1 as limit value. Above this limit, the situation should be managed as a planned exposure situation and below the limit the requirement is to keep exposures under review. The deadline to implement the new Directive is February 2018. Not only reference levels must be introduced in the 28 EU countries, but also national radon action plans have to be developed. Traditionally, the situation of radon policies throughout Europe is very different from country to country. Nordic countries, Ireland and the UK have some of the most advanced radon programmes while southern countries have done much less to tackle the radon issue. The European Radon Association (ERA) was born officially in December 2013 and it is registered under Belgian law as a non-profit association. It has currently more than 100 individual members and 20 private companies within its membership. Therefore, ERA can provide a clear overview of the situation of the implementation of the new Directive EURATOM BSS in Europe. This presentation will make an examination of the current situation of the EURATOM BSS implementation in the EU countries. We will show some examples of the transposition of the Directive into national legislations and also the different relevant activities ERA is carrying out at the moment. ]]>

https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/profile-photo-joseradon-48x48.jpg?cb=1562318477 My research area is radiation physics with a particular focus on environmental radioactivity. My Ph.D. Thesis concerned itself with radon measurements in air, soil and water. Alongside the experimental measurements, a new radon exhalation measurement system was developed. In recent years I have been working on some topics relating to nuclear safety (knowledge in this field is summarized in this CV showing different courses undertaken) and Mathematical modelling. In relation to modelling I have an in-depth knowledge of Monte Carlo techniques. http://www.emigrantepucelano.blogspot.com/ https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/20180315ukrajlgv-180319135229-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/protocols-for-radon-testing/91160708 #Protocols for #radon ... https://cdn.slidesharecdn.com/ss_thumbnails/20171104iweanrjlgv-171130083854-thumbnail.jpg?width=320&height=320&fit=bounds slideshow/the-new-directive-euratom-bss-current-situation-of-the-implementation-and-eras-activities/83039512 The new Directive EURA...
