My IT job pays the bills so I can pursue my passions in my volunteer work. After being very ill in 2004, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and within 2 weeks I had emergency ileostomy surgery. Afterwards I nearly died of sepsis and spent several months learning to walk again. Over the last several years I have been active in the ostomy community and this year I took on two new volunteer positions. I am the President of Ostomy Toronto and a Director of the United Ostomy Association of Canada. Both organizations provide emotional and practical support to those who have/will have ostomy surgery,
