A workshop for DevCon 4 A Token Curated Registry (TCR)s rational choice model assumes that people will correctly weigh costs and benefits to calculate their choices. Meanwhile, behavioral economics shows that human beings have a limited ability to think about long-term implications of their actions, and are greatly influenced by context. Designing a DApp that uses a TCR must take into account the fact that users can be biased by short term rewards. In this workshop, I will facilitate an interactive role-playing session to test how a user-centered TCR incentivizes good behavior. It is based on Civils TCR, a system that succeeds when our users are rational, but also accepts that they might not be. Volunteers from the audience will act out some stages of the TCR process. What you will learn: How a token-curated registry works Checks Civil has put into place for non-rational behavior Potential brainstorming: What are the appropriate checks and balances for a decentralized system? How might voters with limited time and attention span remember to reveal their votes to successfully earn rewards for their efforts? ]]>

What is a visualization for someone who cant see? How do you take something inherently visuala rich, highly interactive data visualizationand make it usable for people across the spectrum of visual impairment, from color deficiency to blindness? How can we evolve our design and development approach to create solutions that work for everyone? Senior Designer, Nguyet Vuong and Web Developer, Tommy OKeefe from Atlantic Media Strategies team up to discuss what it means to design and develop for an inclusive audience in an agency setting and how no-screen-first is their evolving approach to integrating accessibility into their workflow. Theyll explore strategies and discuss learnings for creating accessible experiences that are inclusive and future-friendly.]]>

Don't know how or where to begin a website, or looking to see how others go through the process? In the first of our two part "From Concepts to Code" series, Nguyet Vuong will present the process of designing a website from concepts to comp. She will demonstrate how to give an appropriate look and feel to a website and highlight portions of her design process. She will also cover both technical and creative techniques to get a project in motion.]]>
