The pipeline will connect Iran's giant South Fars gas field with Pakistan's Baluchistan and Sind provinces. Pakistan will have to construct about 800 km long pipeline from the border passing through the Makran Coastal Highway to connect with its existing gas transmission network at Shaheed Benazir Abad (formerly Nawabshah), while Iran will build 300 km long stretch of the pipeline from Iranshahr to Pakistan's border through Iranian port of Chabahar.
