Dr. Samir Raouf has a career of research and R&D activities extending for more than three decades. After recognizing the wide gap between research institutions and socio-economic sectors in Iraq, he shifted his focus towards the critical role of science policy and well formulated projects to bridge this gap. He acquired extensive experience in such fields during his tenure as senior deputy minister/ Iraqi Ministry of Science and Technology (2007-2015) through projects he initiated and/or led especially in the fields of Science & Innovation Policy, Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development, Energy and Knowledge Economy. Thus, he acquired extensive experience in development issues.
