In 1995, retired from the University of Virginia as Commonwealth Professor of Psychology. For two years, before retiring to Hawaii, I served as CEO and Chair of the Board of KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc.
My studies of genetic differences among people and child development won several research awards. I am a Fellow fo the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and other professional organizations.
