Patrizia Santi's research activity is focused on drug delivery by the transdermal, inhalation, buccal, nasal, ocular and oral routes. The research in the transdermal field is oriented to the study of the mechanisms involved in iontophoretic drug transport (passive diffusion, electrotransport and electroosmosis), iontophoretic delivery of peptides and proteins, reverse iontophoresis for diagnostic purposes and realization of innovative transdermal drug delivery systems.
