Friends for Youth's Mentoring Institute began in 1998 as a response to the growing need for standardized practices in mentoring youth. We provide education to practitioners based on the field’s Recommended Best Practices, the latest research, and over 30 years of successful programming. We do this by providing resources, trainings, and consultations to programs who want to create a mentoring program or improve their current services; protecting the safety and well-being of youth by promoting successful mentoring models; and furthering the field through research and information dissemination, sponsoring an annual conference every January, and supporting local coalition efforts.
