There's a natural tendency for people to feel some type of personal obligation in salvation. It's difficult for some people to grasp the idea that God would freely forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I am saved not because I merited salvation, but because God decided to show me mercy by His grace. I am not perfect, I'm simply favoured and forgiven.
