In 1 John 4:7-21 John gives an extended treatment on the fact that God is love. Although this topic has been addressed several times, each time there is a new emphasis. In this text, John asserts that God is invisible. Jesus is the visible expression of God's love to us and we are called to visibly express Jesus' love to our brothers and sisters and to the world at large. Expressing love to others causes our love to mature... we are perfected in love. Failing to do so reveals that we have yet to truly embrace God's love.Read less
