Dr. Ir. Teade Punter gave a presentation on using data for smart systems such as mobile robots and sensor networks. Smart systems sense their environment, make autonomous decisions, and control their environment. Examples include traffic control systems, greenhouse sensor grids, and digital factories. Smart systems use and produce data, and there are 5 guidelines for working with data: apply open interfaces to access data, clean and combine data to improve it, predict with data to enhance performance, secure data to protect systems, and apply data to develop new adaptable systems like a digital twin model of a warehouse with AGVs.
