Henry VIII had six wives throughout his reign as King of England from 1509 to 1547. Choosing the right wife was extremely important for political alliances, producing a male heir to secure the monarchy, and satisfying Henry's personal desires. However, none of his marriages fulfilled all of Henry's goals. He divorced two wives, had two wives executed, and was married to the remaining two for short periods of time, highlighting the difficulties Henry faced in finding a suitable queen.
