3. GLASSCOOL
How can my clients, business partners,
bar guests be encouraged to chill their
whiskey without using ice?
original prompt by David Beach (ME203):
Design and implement a multi-part product using
wide-spread manufacturing processes, using metals
and plastics.

4. GLASSCOOL how do introduce a new way to cool your beverage?
WATER -- tap water is not necessarily safe, and many homes
or places of businesses do not own a filtering system installed
for general use (such as when freezing ice cubes)
WATER IN USE -- When drinking juice or alcohol, ice serves
as a coolant-- but when it melts, it ends up diluting your drink.
WATER IN SITU -- the office, and the more exclusive bars,
are places with entrenched cultural habits. This incorporates
decor as well as drinking habits. In the US, this means drinks
are diluted with water, a shame for good whiskey
GlassCool is my first foray into a full product
manufacturing, from conception to implementation. I
chose to tackle American drinking habits. More
specifically, American drinking habits where it is most
entrenched with social cues.

patient current medical solutions
Ill just forget
But what do I do when I travel?
Its so much easier when my wife reminds me
For me, this came at a very poignant moment in my
familys life, when my father battled cancer; as
forgetful as he is, he has to now take pills every day for
the rest of his life. I spoke to many others in the area
who have had to introduce new behaviors, and many
that have found workarounds that work for them.

I looked for the best case scenario for taking medication (with water & food)
I looked for moments in a day that were consistent (morning activities)
I looked for habits that were already formed (brushing your teeth)
And then I looked at how that injection molding machine works...

10. PILLBOX the project in which I learned to respect the power of behavior-minded design, and the intricacies
of injection mold manufacturing.
PillBox clasps around your toothbrush, ready for a pre-
or post-meal intake.
Small and light, it fits in your travel accessories, in your
briefcase, and anywhere you may normally store your
toothbrush

11. PRESENTOOL
How can presenting information be
more intuitive, and more natural?
Students interact with digital interfaces starting from
an increasingly young age, and digital media plays a
central role in presentations as early as middle school.
And yet there currently are less than stellar tools
available to students to take advantage of them.

15. PDSA PRODUCT DESIGN STUDENT ASSOCIATION
STANFORD
How can student services better
connect to the students?
The Product Design Student Association was revived
this past year, in an attempt to provide services to
Product Design students who at times feel lost within
the cross-disciplinary depths of our studies.

16. PDSA how do you get designers, who all agree they should work together, to actually do so?
The biggest milestone personally, was trying to tease
out how to successfully implement an entirely new
approach and understanding of group organization
and management. This included learning new
management tools (such as Asana).

17. PDSA developing solutions grounded in a real understanding of the problem
understand the demographic understand the possibilities understand the resources
What I had not realized was how difficult it is to get a group of people to actively engage with you, especially when they
themselves understand the principles with which you are trying to convince them. It is difficult to realize you yourself are not, in
fact, living out the very strategies you apply to your work.

18. PDSA a fresh start in an ongoing process of honing what creative collaboration means
In the end, it was a year of workshops, strategies, and a lot of waiting. Feedback and renewed
energy promise an exciting and even more successful 2012-2013 effort.
