Alfonso Mendoza is a 25-year-old surfer, skateboarder, and rap singer from Venezuela who was born without legs due to an illness. He suffered bullying in school for his disability and attempted suicide at age 14 due to depression. He was raised by his grandmother but she passed away the night before his 9th birthday after making him promise to study hard and feel no less than others despite his challenges. Currently he lives in Colombia with his wife, newborn daughter, and older brother, where he makes a living singing rap on buses in Barranquilla.

WHO IS ALFONSO Despite being born without legs due to an illness, Alfonso is a surfer, a skateboarder, gives motivational talks and makes a living singing rap on the buses of Barranquilla. He is 25 years old and from Venezuela. He emigrated from there to Colombia illegally and lives with his wife, his newborn daughter and his older brother.
HIS CHILDHOOD Alfonso suffered bullying at school. He said that some of the classmates left him locked up in the bathroom, other made fun of him condition… Because that and other things that happened to him, at 14 he had depressions and even thought about committing suicide.
HIS GRANDMOTHER He was raised by his grandmother but he didn't have much luck with it either. «At the age of 9, one night before going to sleep, he made me promise that I would study, that I would get ahead, that despite everything I was not going to feel less than the others ... I promised him that I would be great. When I woke up the next morning they gave me the news that she had died that night.
