Americans consume far more resources per capita than any other nation, as the American lifestyle would require three planet's worth of resources if lived globally. Americans dispose of 99% of purchased products within 6 months and throw away 200,000 tons of edible food daily. On average, one American consumes as much energy as over 100 people from developing nations, and Americans use a disproportionately large amount of the world's materials like paper, oil, coal, aluminum and copper.
