This document discusses assertiveness and how to develop it. Assertiveness is communicating needs, feelings, opinions, and beliefs openly and honestly without violating others' rights. It is not the same as aggression which benefits self at the expense of others. Assertiveness produces positive outcomes for all. Developing assertiveness helps build self-confidence, self-esteem, respect from others, and improves communication and decision-making skills. Being assertive involves being direct and honest about one's views and needs while respecting others' rights.
