Mary Pope Osborne is an American author best known for her Magic Tree House series of children's books. She was born in 1949 in Oklahoma and grew up in a military family. Osborne has published over 100 books across several genres. She began her writing career accidentally by writing a semi-autobiographical book about an 11-year old girl. This book was published as Run, Run as Fast as You Can and inspired Osborne to become a full-time writer. Her Magic Tree House series about Jack and Annie traveling through time has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Osborne hopes her books will inspire children to read and provide female characters as heroes.
