- 16. 2 Apply for open access funding Research Councils UK and Wellcome only What you can expect from the Library We will check your application for compliance with the funder’s requirements and get back to you within two working days If successful, we will raise a purchase order and hypothecate your open access fee against our account. This guarantees that money is available when your paper is accepted. We cannot guarantee to pay open access charges if you apply after your paper has been published.

Email us at lra@le.ac.uk or phone 2310 (Tom or Rob) or 7398 (Ian) Don’t get left with a bill you can’t pay, for a paper that isn’t compliant with your funder’s open access requirement!
- 18. 3 What next? Research Councils UK and Wellcome only Once your paper is accepted, we will settle the open access fee and make sure that your paper is made open access under the correct license. We will also check that any other open access requirements (such as mandatory deposit in Europe PMC) are fulfilled. When your paper is published, we will deposit a copy in Leicester Research Archive.
