India is a diverse country with various religions, languages, foods, clothing styles, and games. The three main tribes in Meghalaya are the Garo, Khasi, and Jaintia. The Garo celebrate the Wangala festival which marks the end of the harvest season and honors the god of fertility. The Khasi hold the Nongkrem dance annually in October/November as a thanksgiving for good harvests. The Jaintia celebrate the Behdeinkhlam Festival for three days in July in Jowai to drive away evil with wooden sticks.
