This document discusses mathematics and common types of errors students make. It defines mathematics as the science dealing with logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. It notes math is essential to many areas of life. It then outlines three common types of errors: careless errors from lack of attention; computational errors from mistakes in operations; and conceptual errors from misunderstanding concepts or flawed logic. It provides examples of each type of error and their correct solutions to demonstrate misunderstandings. It concludes with some practice problems to solve.

Common errors in mathematics
3. Mathematics is the science that deals with the
logic of shape, quantity and arrangement.
Math is all around us, in everything we do.
It is the building block for everything in our
daily lives, including mobile devices,
architecture (ancient and modern), art,
money, engineering, and even sports.
5. Careless errors occur simple because they are
not playing attention or are working too fast.
1. Copying the problem wrong to begin with.
2. Writing a wrong number.
3. Dropping a negative sign.
4. Sloppy handwriting.
6. The second type of mistake is computational.
This means somewhere in process they
incorrectly added,subtraction,multiplied or
divided.
7. Conceptual errors occur because kids have
misunderstood the underling concept or have
used incorrect logic.
