An objective is a point or an end-view of
something towards which action is directed.
It gives direction to the programme that
one wants to undertake.

Meaning of the term Educational
Objective:
Educational objectives are goals towards which the pupil
progresses. They are the end results of learning stated in
terms of changes in pupil behaviour. It may be defined as
desired change in behaviour.
Every statement of an objective should describe the kind
of change or growth expected in the child when the
objective is realized.

Meaning of General Objectives:
Those objectives which are stated at very general level are known as general
objectives. As these objectives do not contain a behavioral verb (action verb),
they are also known as non-behavioral objectives.
e.g. i) The pupil acquires the knowledge of --------------------------
( terms / principles / incident / places / characters / movements / revolts )
ii) The pupil develops an understanding of ---------------------
( Buddhism/ Causes of revolutions/ effects of war etc.)
iii)The pupil applies his knowledge and understanding-------

General Objective: The pupil acquires knowledge of facts, events,
phenomena, symbols, charts, chronology, etc.
Specific Objective:
E.g. i) The pupil recognizes the pictures of kings, social reformers,
freedom fighters, historical monuments.
ii) The pupil recalls the incidents before independence.
iii)The pupil recalls the names of various leaders, dates
of important events, slogans, incidents.

General Objective: The pupil comprehends i.e. develops understanding
of the theme, basic elements of the language, the different forms and styles of
literature,
idioms, etc.
Specific Objective:
E.g. i) The pupil narrates the theme.
ii) The pupil explains the ideas implied in the poem.
iii) The pupil points out the central idea of a given poem.
iv) The pupil classifies the words into different kinds of nouns, adverbs, etc.
v) The pupil identifies various kinds of sentences.
vi) The pupil supplies a suitable title.
