Evaluation: Question 4
SEAN J CLARK A2 MEDIA COURSEWORK
Media Technology
Media technology in this day and age is easily accessible, found
almost anywhere online and can be used at your disposal. My
coursework would not have been what it is today if it were not for
this digital software and hardware. It has been essential to the
production of my media products and my blog & evaluation.
Media technology is incredible, anything is possible when you have
the right technology to assist you on the way.
Blogger
 Blogger is a website that allows the users to post updates about what they are doing;
this has acted as my headquarters over the past two years as it is where I share all
my progress with the public and my examiners. I use Blogger on a day to day basis,
constantly updating my posts, to present my coursework at the end of the year.
Blogger has many uses, it allows for images, photos, videos, audios, presentations
and animations to be pasted wherever and whenever you see fit. This was a perfect
way to help present my work to the examiners and my audience because I was
allowed to be as creative as I want and thus adhering to the OCR mark scheme.
Blogger has been the perfect way to present my research and work over the past
two years.
Emaze
Emaze is a presentational software that allows you to create Emazing
presentations, in 3D with animations, videos and pictures. This software has
been a pleasure to use as it is easy to learn and very effective, for example
two out the four evaluation questions are made with Emaze, this is because
the way that the software works is so impressive and intriguing, with moving
images, videos and animations. It makes reading the information in front of
you enjoyable, plus the creativity of the presentation is at its peak.
Prezi
Like Emaze, Prezi is a presentational software, free to use on the web, the
difference between the two however is that you have a lot more
customisation abilities with Prezi, the ability to choose where the next
animation goes or where the presentation takes you is incredible. Although
time consuming, I used Prezi for a number of posts on my blogs and have
used it in particular the research process of the course because it allowed
me to visualise my thought process so that I can better understand the
information I am obtaining.
Prezi creates very impressive 3D presentations that allowed me to present
work in a creative and professional way.
PowerPoint
PowerPoint, although simplistic, it is very important. As PPT (PowerPoint) is a
Microsoft software, schools and computer nowadays have it pre installed
and as a result I am very confident using this software. I use PPT to add a
bit of formality to my work, so that the information is easy to read and
straight to the point this way my communication to my audience and
examiners can be credited.
PowerPoint has been very helpful to me by allowing me to quickly present
important information, I have used this software in all areas of the course,
for instance the construction stage; I used PowerPoint to help present my
thought processes to the audience and examiners, and allowed me to
make plans and guidelines to follow so that I didnt find myself lost in an
immense amount of information and ideas
Publisher & Photoshop 11
Publisher was used primarily in the construction stages of my digipak and
advert. This Microsoft software, like PowerPoint is simplistic but when used
correctly can be a tool in creating professional work. Publisher allows you
to manipulate images and texts to create posters and media text
presentations such as a digipak. In combination with Photoshop 11,
images can be edited to exactly what I wanted, from lighting to
background, I was able to create a professional looking digipak that
hopefully fulfils its required purpose.
These two software applications have been so important in allowing me
create my media productions particularly the digipak and adverts.
YouTube
YouTube is an online video bank that allows me to upload videos and
animations so that I can embed them into my blog, share them on social
networks and to present my music video. YouTube has been key to helping
me present ideas and work that I have been doing. For example I was
able even in the very early experimentation stages of music videos, to
publish a short stop motion video that I had created as part of my
research and planning.
This online application is fantastic at presenting information quickly and in
a way that the viewer doesnt get bored by pressing buttons or reading
loads of text. I used YouTube for many, many different reasons but mostly
to present information, such as focus group comments so that I could add
them to my blog.
Adobe Elements 11
Adobe Elements is a production software for music, images and videos, I
have spent countless hours on Elements while creating my music video.
This software allows you to manipulate, speedup, zoom, dim, fade,
transition, cut and edit in almost anyway possible. I used this programme
only for the purpose of creating my music video, it is very complicated and
difficult to use as a beginner, but now that I have been consistently using it
for almost a year I feel comfortable using it.
I used this programme and all its features to create what I hope will be
perceived as a professional and high standard music video.
IPhone & Panasonic Camcorder
Both hardware devices were used for one purpose and that was to film
and take photos. These two devices helped capture the footage and
photos I have used in my video and digipaks.
I used both devices because unlike the camcorder, the IPhone has filter
installed on it that help change the image and video, in to different
colours and formats.
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
All the technologies previously explained have equal importance, I used
each one because in one way or another they have their own merits. The
21st century has developed into an age where new technology is being
created everyday and due to this I think it is important that we take
advantage of the tools and technologies we are given. Just as I have, I
have used, will continue to use this type of technology in this future
because it has allowed me present, consolidate, workout, publish and
improve my work and thought process.
