Oswego, Illinois 60543
I graduated from Aurora University with a dual MBA in Technology and Operations
Management and Human Resource Management- Graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I am the owner of
Ms. Evas Consulting Services and Ms. Evas Janitorial Services. I have never held an elective
office. I moved to Montgomery and then Oswego more than 15 years ago so my children would
get a quality education.
I am running for the seat on the District 308 School Board to serve the administration,
community, parents and students. Both of my children attended school in District 308 and turned
out to be exceptional citizens. It is time to recognize diversity exist; one child is not more
important than the other. All children deserve the best education the schools can offer and it is up
to administration, parents, students, teachers and District 308 School Board to make that happen.
District 308 is now a diverse community with that said we should accept and celebrate diversity.
If elected to the board, my top priority is to address the needs of the administration, parents,
students, teachers and community. If elected to the District 308 School Board: I would push to
improve communication with the community without violating Illinois Statutes and other laws
and participate in making District 308 School Board a world class district. District 308 is going
to continue to grow the board has to make sure it is using all the resources available to deal with
the anticipated growth. It is time to think outside the box.
There are more than two significant issues facing District 308 School Board: Enrollment is
continuing to grow (overcrowding in the schools) and there is a need for diversity in the
leadership team and teachers. The District 308 Board has made the necessary changes and
obtained the necessary funds for the overcrowding in the schools but nothing about diversity.
The District 308 School Board should look into recruiting minorities to go along with the change
in the demographics.
Yes, I support the current boards initiative to make District 308 a world class school district.
I have reviewed the District 308 School Board budget and there is not Fat in the budget that I
have seen. I am concerned with all the construction going on and with the anticipation of
increased enrollment. If for some reason the enrollment decreases in the next couple of years, the
additions to buildings and building new schools will be a waste of tax payers money.
To prevent the board from violating the Illinois Open Meeting Act, as a board member I would -
emphasize the importance of following state law and making sure laws are followed. Previous
problems with the Kendall County States Attorney and the Illinois Attorney General Office
have been resolved. The meeting minutes and agendas can be reviewed on the District 308
website.
There should be a partnership with community so that our children have an opportunity to
become educated and productive citizens.
