"White Paper": Exterior Painting and Restoration
The repair and restoration of deteriorated wood siding, trim, and ornamental plaster on the exteriors of older buildings is one of the cornerstones of what is called a ¡°Painting Restoration¡±. From the symptoms of paint failure, one can determine the underlying causes, and then decide upon the proper cures. A ¡°Painting Restoration¡± is first and foremost an Attitude. It determines the approach one takes to the work to be performed. Most painting contractors are trained to recognize and treat the surface conditions of paint failure. But these are often only the symptoms. Left untreated are the causes. All too often, if the painting contractor does not take care of these conditions, they do not get taken care of at all. The result is a short-lived paint job ¨C one that does not serve its true function.
