An extreme sport is a
popular term for certain
activities perceived as
having a high level of
inherent danger, These
activities often involve
speed, height, a high
level of physical
exertion, and highly
specialized gear or
spectacular stunts.

Athletes in these
activities compete not
only against other
athletes, but also
against environmental
obstacles and
challenges.

Downhill biking (DH) is a time trial (!)
mountain biking event held on a course
with a decrease in elevation(!). The
races are held on steep, rocky off-road
terrain, often involving jumps as high as
    4-5 meters.

Not any king of bike is used for this
    kinds of competitions, but full-
suspension bikes, with large tires, disc
brakes and special geometrics for the
    frame(!).

The safety gear used for this sport is
    again very professional, involving full
body armor and a full face helmet(!).

Some of these bikes and gear can be as
    expensive as 10 000 euros.

Wingsuit flying is the sport of flying the human body

Often this wingsuit flying is done near canyons (!),

Surfing is a extreme sport in which
individuals paddle into a wave on a
surfboard, jump to their feet, and
are propelled across the water by
the force of the wave, which is most

These waves can be as high as 7-8
meters putting the surfer at danger
of drowning in the rare occasion
where the wave collapses over him.
