Formal organization official communication along the chain of command is called formal
communication.
This communication takes place between a superior and subordinate, subordinate and superior
and among that person in same level.
Vertical communication flows either upwards or downwards through formal chain of command.
The pattern of exchange of information by members of a work group is known as communication
network.
Wheel pattern, communication flows from a person at the centre to all other members of the
group..
In ‘Y’ pattern, some persons are closer to the person at the centre and can communicate.
Chain pattern the persons at the end of the chain can communicate.
Circle pattern permits each person in the group to communicate with one another.
All channel pattern all members of the group can communicate with one another.
Informal communication is based informal relationship between the members of the organization
