The document discusses how Kiev can attract more international conferences. It outlines that international business events play a significant role in building a stronger economy through trade, investment, and talent. It then analyzes Kiev's current standing in hosting international association meetings and delegates, noting there is room for improvement. Some recommendations are made, such as the city leaders and industry taking a streamlined approach to support bids. A case example is provided of how Kiev could bid to host the World Steel Annual Conference by conducting research, contacting the organization, and developing a bid with support from government, industry, and local suppliers.
The document discusses the importance of communication infrastructure and technology for economic growth and innovation. It argues that each new phase of communication technology, from paper to the internet, has enabled new scientific and technological advances by spreading information more widely. It advocates for continued investment and policy support to expand high-speed internet access and promote an "internet of things", open innovation, and the free flow of knowledge, as outlined in the European Union's Lisbon Strategy. The overall message is that transitioning to IPv6 is essential to enable the next generation of internet-enabled economic growth and innovation.

Twenty years of Science Festival
2022 is a special year: that of the 20th edition. A turning point and a great responsibility, for one of the international leading
events for the dissemination of scientific culture that has become, over the years, a reference point for the public and
participants.
A festival that celebrates the wonder of science and, in the meantime, makes people discover the beauty of Genoa. Scientists,
researchers, popularizers, artists, authors, as well as institutions, associations and companies, meet the public to make science
touch, see and understand without boundaries, in an open comparison free from academic approaches.
For the past 20 years, each edition of the Festival has been characterized by a keyword: a common theme that allows visitors to
orient themselves, observe and have a clear and intriguing perspective on the more than 300 events on the schedule.
The document summarizes the 2010 Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias de Valencia Campus Party event held from July 26 to August 1, 2010 in Valencia, Spain. Over 300 hours of conferences, workshops and panels were held across many topics related to technology, innovation, creativity and digital culture. Notable speakers included Steve Wozniak, Oliviero Toscani, and researchers in robotics, networking security, astrophysics and more. Participants actively shared their ideas, projects and knowledge. Social media engagement and media coverage of the event were also highlighted.

This document summarizes the history and development of new media as an academic field from the late 1980s to early 2000s. It discusses how:
1) New media emerged from an underground cultural movement in the late 1980s and gained mainstream recognition through new institutions in Europe in the 1990s like ZKM and ISEA.
2) Europe and Japan were early leaders in new media art through public funding of festivals, exhibitions, and commissions while the US lagged behind due to lack of arts funding.
3) By the late 1990s, new media became an established academic field in the US through new university programs and exhibitions at major museums like the Whitney and SFMOMA.
4) The
Technology and art have come together to form new media art. New media art uses emerging digital technologies as its medium and explores cultural, political, and aesthetic possibilities. It can take many forms, such as video, sculpture, installation art, photography, robotics, and audio. As digital tools advance, artists increasingly use technology in innovative ways to push boundaries and create new types of artwork. This has led to questions about whether digital or technology-based art should be considered fine art.

This document discusses using an "Internet for Culture and People" to connect cultural centers and share cultural events. It describes the Cultural Ring project, which connected local theaters using an IP network and equipped them as audiovisual studios. The project helped share opera performances, increasing audiences. Ongoing challenges include organizing vast cultural repositories and engaging more people. Open living labs are proposed as a way to involve citizens in user-driven cultural innovation. Europeana is discussed as a potential European cultural laboratory.
The document discusses cultural industries, which are defined as industries that produce creative and artistic works. It covers several topics:
1. It outlines different types of cultural industries such as film, music, publishing, and design.
2. It discusses perspectives from theorists Adorno and Horkheimer who viewed the culture industry as standardized mass production.
3. More recently, there is an emphasis on creative industries and associating culture with innovation.
4. Globalization has increased cultural exchange but may threaten local cultural diversity through spread of mass consumer culture. UNESCO promotes cultural diversity and development through support of cultural industries.
FutureEverything invites proposals for self-funded research and innovation projects to be presented as a part of the 20th anniversary FutureEverything Festival, 26-28 February 2015.
Successful applicants will be given a unique opportunity to stage co-design, prototyping and public trials, engaging festival visitors and residents of Manchester at festival venues and across the city. Projects will showcase ground-breaking concepts, products and services to commercial enterprise and the international design and innovation community.
This document discusses the role of open data in cities and the potential for data cooperatives. It notes that while data provides benefits through personalization, individuals may not be in control of their own data. The document suggests data cooperatives as a way for people to take back control of their data through custodianship, representation, and redistributing the value of aggregated personal data in a fair way. Open data initiatives in cities like Manchester aim to make all public data freely available to fuel innovation, but questions remain around empowering all people to benefit from data.
FutureEverything runs year-round projects looking at the impact of technology and data on society. Open data is changing the world as more data is made publicly available by governments and organizations. Manchester aims to be on the forefront of 21st century "data cities" by making city data freely available to fuel innovation. Data intermediaries can help interpret underlying data and present it visually to help people understand and take action. Various opportunities exist for businesses to use open data to gain insights and make better decisions.

Webinar: LF Energy GEISA: Addressing edge interoperability at the meterDanBrown980551
油
This webinar will introduce the Grid Edge Security and Interoperability Alliance, or GEISA, an effort within LF Energy to address application interoperability at the very edge of the utility network: meters and other distribution automation devices. Over the last decade platform manufacturers have introduced the ability to run applications on electricity meters and other edge devices. Unfortunately, while many of these efforts have been built on Linux, they havent been interoperable. APIs and execution environment have varied from one manufacturer to the next making it impossible for utilities to obtain applications that they can run across a fleet of different devices. For utilities that want to minimize their supply chain risk by obtaining equipment from multiple suppliers, they are forced to run and maintain multiple separate management systems. Applications available for one device may need to be ported to run on another, or they may not be available at all.
GEISA addresses this by creating a vendor neutral specification for utility edge computing environments. This webinar will discuss why GEISA is important to utilities, the specific issues GEISA will solve and the new opportunities it creates for utilities, platform vendors, and application vendors.
