Southeast Asia is made up of peninsulas and archipelagos with mountainous and forested terrain. The Mekong River flows through the region, which has a tropical climate with monsoon rains. Natural resources include rubber from rubber tree plantations, and farming of rice, coconut, palm oil, sugarcane, and coffee. Major cities include Bangkok, Thailand and Singapore, which have grown in the modern era.
